Reputation (or Disrepute)

The Bharani festival itself has gained this derogatory reputation - for therippaattu (profane songs), for frenzied crowds rushing at the temple with sabres and sticks raised high. These are the enduring images/impressions captured of the ritual and circulated/commented widely.
